Ideas In Easy Language
Our Ideas In Easy Language
- The collective is a humanizing, spiritual community that meets together.
- We use the life of Jesus as one of our tools to understand ourselves and our life together, and so some in the collective may identify as Christian.
- We also use a multitude of other tools and authorities to understand ourselves and our life together, and so some in the collective may not identify as Christian.
- We do not require that people have the same ideas, but everyone must treat one another with kindness.
- The goal of the collective is not to provide a way to escape the pain of life by “believing the right thing”, but rather to share tools, experiences, and friendship for the moment we might have together.
- We are learning, which means we are also changing. While many things may repeat, the goal of our time together is to create meaningful experiences... not to keep things the same or to put on a performance for an audience.
- We share ourselves without coercion.
Our Intentional Practices
- We choose and design practices that support our values. While the values do not change, the community and the culture change. Therefore practices may need to be refreshed or reinvented to realign with our values within the current community and culture.
- We meet collectively.
- We create spiritual practices and liturgy. We support sacraments that reinforce our sacred values and community rhythm.
- We create opportunities for personal expression, including sharing music, art, poetry, prose, and stories.
- We learn as a community.
- We create and support opportunities to embody love in our spheres of relationship through presence and action.
- We create and support opportunities for building friendships.
